This year, I can’t help but feel nostalgia for previous summers. I usually depend on my favorite pop goddesses – Lady Gaga, Madonna and Kylie – to release an album in May to keep on repeat until Labor Day. But with Gaga’s injured hip and delayed progress on her album Pop Art, a release from these three is nowhere in sight. I am forced to look back.

Kylie did just this in “Step Back in Time.” Recorded in 1990, Kylie funks in the streets of LA, singing of the disco 70s and the O’Jays. “When you can’t find the music / To get down and boogie / All you can do is step back in time.” It’s so cold outside in Wisconsin, but riding the boogie love trains to decades past will keep me going until there is something worth discoing out to in the present.
